William Penny Brookes, founding father of Modern Olympic games belong to the city of Much Wenlock. The meeting between him and Pierre de coubertine took place in Raven Hotel.
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has unveiled its Olympic mascots which have been named after the village of Much Wenlock in Shropshire and the town of Stoke Mandeville in Buckinghamshire.
The pictures are of Much Wenlock andStoke Mandeville Hospital - Wenlock and Mandeville are the mascots for the 2012 London Olympics and Paralympics respectively.
